This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice. In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance. We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as “Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom.” The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance. 3. Dyson Cyclone V10 In a world filled with cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model is a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase. The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store. The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a standard battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's enough time to vacuum the average-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass usually works). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile. 4. iRobot Roomba 694 The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in a robot. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition. Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base. The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver its own. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of automation options. 5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+ Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance. The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices. In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models that we tested, and this could be a problem for some shoppers. The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app. You can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run. 6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They have a wider cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the area clean for the longest time.
